Andy Evans' dedication and love for racing

Andy Evans was born in the year 1951. He saw his first Can-Am race during the year 1963. His age at that time was only twelve. From that time onwards it was his burning desire to become a race car driver. He used to be fascinated by the very thought of driving a car at hundred miles per hour. His passion also extended to cars, mainly race cars.

He had a special corner for Ferrari and this was known to many. The route he took to become a race car driver was not followed by many. He had chosen to pay his dues. He used to race as a hobby during the 1980s. He started racing professionally only when the bad times came. His focus and dedication enabled him to join the Camel GT Lights class of the International Motor Sports Association in the year 1990. Before long he was making tracks on the legendary race tracks not only in the United States, but also in Europe.

Because of his dedication to the sport, he decided to form his own team in the year 1994. The name of his team was Team Scandia. He was able to persuade some of the top drivers to join his team. After that the team started racing in some very competitive races. In the year 1995 Team Scandia won the ‘12 Hours of Sebring’. The car used by the wining driver was a Ferrari. The last time such a win took place was in the year 1972. This win was special not only to Andy Evans, but also for Ferrari. So a token of appreciation Ferrari allowed Andy Evans to have an F 50. This car was among the hardest to buy as Ferrari at that time was leasing the car instead of directly selling it.
